Hi, I was at the used car lot yesterday taking a look at a used '97 90 series Prado. It's a mid-east import with the 3.4 engine, automatic transmission, fulltime 4wd.
In 'H' mode the thing ran great on the street. With the car stopped and shifter in neutral I tried to shift the transfer case into HL. There was a fair bit of resistance and a sort of grinding and banging noise before I could shift into HL. Same case happened when I tried to go into LL. Going back to H was also met with the same theatrics.
Anybody have any experience with this? Would this be difficult/expensive to fix? Thank you.
