My 2" rough cut oak has been stored in a shippin' container for a year now.

Here's the first piece cut to length and in place.

The rest is all cut and in place also and I'll get some pics of that tomorrow. Due to the irregularities in the 50-year old trailer and the inherent irregularities of rough-cut wood, each piece was cut and fitted individually.

Here's a shot of the ass end lights. Used stainless steel fasteners and centered up on the rear rail. Would never think about hangin' the license plate like we did on a normal trailer ... 'cept this trailer's 'bout 3' off the ground so not a problem.

Yesterday afternoon cleared up finally and we got some work done. Got all the boards drilled to support the dead ends and then yanked them out to get a good coat of waterseal on 'em.

Good to see my coonass back involved in the project. :grinpimp:

Took 'er for a test drive and ever'thang worked perfect ... got all lights and the brakes brought the Trusty Ol' Comp'ny Truck to a stop by themselves.

I think by the time I get 'er loaded out she's gonna be too much for the lil' Ford ... so I got me a one-way ticket home and I'm gonna run Lil' Pete up here to haul 'er home. :steer:

It's been fun ... but I'm glad she's done.

You better buy yourself a gun cause when the mayor sees that he's gonna steal it

With the leaf springs I put on 'er ... she'll no longer haul a dozer. :frown:

With a lil' luck though, I'll be sneakin' outta Baltimore with a lil' present for him. I'm plannin' on a middle-of-the-night departure from here for maximum load-out possibilities. :grinpimp:

:flamingo:

He aint got a trailer that ought to haul a dozer, but he does anyhow:) Hope your bringin that boat home, we may need it to get around in

Lil' Pete's here in Baltimore.

She ran strong ... I mean REAL strong. :steer:

One of the thangs I had fixed was the speedometer/odometer deal so I now got an idea what's goin' on. I checked it several times against 100 mile sections of Interstate highway and she's exactly 5% high. I can live with that. :meh:

Correctin' for the 5% error, I ran with the the cruise control at 75 mph ... lopin' along at a damn-comfortable 1700 RPM. She'd accelerate quite nicely for a passin' manuever by just stompin' the skinny pedal ... and I got 11.5 mpg.

Can't even count the Folks that took pictures of 'er on the road and ev'ry time I stopped ... way cool. Lots of cool chatter on the CB as well. One poor trucker just didn't understand the concept of not makin' money with a Pete. I finally gave up and told him the sleeper was jam packed with under-age Mes'kin prostitutes and the bed was slap full of automatic weapons and super-addictive crack cocaine ... and I was on my way to New York City to make my fortune.

He didn't say no more. :grinpimp:

Ain't nuthin' as therapuetic as a good roadtrip ... and this was a damn-fine one. I'm already lookin' forward to the return journey.

But first ... I'm gonna take advantage of havin' a Peterbilt dealer right next door here in Baltimore and try to get a few more lil' thangs corrected.

11.5 is impressive at 75mph! Sounds like you got things goin your way now! Good work Sir.

Big, BIG day today ... hooked the trailer up to Lil' Pete for a test ride. :bounce2:

Wouldn't hurt if the hitch on the truck was a lil' lower, but it'll work. All the lights and brakes work. Towed real nice.

She's gonna be one helluva site with the Cruiser on the trailer headin' to PA this fall. :grinpimp:

Headin' back the 31st. :steer:

Just got back from the Pete Dealer. Them Fellas crawled all over Lil' Pete ... most of 'em really liked it but a couple didn't quite grasp the concept.

Gonna drop 'er off first thang Tuesday mornin' for some more nit-pickin' items ... and some lights.

Yeller lights ... lots of yeller lights. Yeller lights across the front bumper. Yeller lights on the steps over the fuel tanks. Yeller lights down the bottom of the sleeper. 31 friggin' yeller lights! :bounce2::grinpimp::bounce2:
