Just finished powder coating stock 80 series wheels and then put new 33s on... now computer is asking for 22 to 24 ounces for weights to make it balanced. Anyone know if a shop in the East Valley that specializes in large tire balancing??

My advice is stop right there. There is no way a wheel should need that much weight. The big risk is that if you need that much weight, and you ever throw it off-road or on-road, you will have a wheel so far out of balance that it will be hazardous to drive at speed. I would say have a good hard look at the wheel and tire separately. If the tolerance stack up does indeed add up to that, spin the tire 180 degrees on the rim and try again.

Tires are new BFG's they say they have this issue with them often... interesting..... Anyway we got them balanced we will see if there good or not tomorrow

Odd things can happen, so who knows. I have had three sets of KO2s and they usually take 1.5-3 oz of weight. Best of luck with them. Hope they serve you well.

they gotem to balance!! Yes odd things happen lol

Was this on all four or just one tire? If just one would look at a possible tire defect. Adding a pound and half to balance a tire just doesn't seem right. Being brand new and not using your original tires would throw up a red flag to me. Powder coating would have to be very thick and uneven to throw a rims balance off that much. Do you have a bunch of weights before?

It worked out. Some wheels did have some heavier weight to them before
