I would not recommend notching it. Cut and turn if you can.How do you cut the notch?
The Original Wizard always swings for the fence.the most intuitive place to move the toque tube. We just bend a new one

Hey Nolen, nice work. what heat shield are you using in the above pic?
Thanks
DUI doesn't need any other computer control. It is stab it, time it and leave it arrangement and works great with a carb. One power wire and a vacuum hose. What is the purpose of the heavy duty DUI distributor with a carb and no other computer control? How do you have it wired? (what wires does it need to run with a carb?) Do you add any other electronic ignition components? I assume its vacuum controlled? Just one vacuum line? Can you show where the rotor is pointed when you initially installed the distributor with the engine at TDC?
How much of that do you need for the tunnel?I bought a Can Am 6x6 a couple years ago and they have this stuff above the motor and under the bed. It gets hammered with mud and you can pressure wash it. Seemed like a good way to do the hump. I’ve put it on the 40s since and the hump will be cool to the touch on a hot day.

Funny you ask. A friend of mine has a 1978 with the stock stuff that has been dying on him and starting sporadically
He went through a cap. Wires. On column ingition. Finally diagnosed it as a random igniter issue.
People love the Toyota electronic ignition stuff but it’s old and really does not work great with a desmog carb or Sniper without a recurve.
I don’t stand behind any electronic ignition except the Davis Unified brand. I’ve got 20+ of these things on my builds over the years with no issues.
Interesting. I've got a AFI kit with the computer controlled HEI diz (their in house brand) and have been tracing some issues on my 2F.
I've had the wild idea to replace it all with professional desmogged carb and a vacuum controlled HEI distributor and a mech fuel pump and start fresh
next time you have that distributor cap off, I'd like to see where the rotor is pointed when at TDC. When try to install mine it always wants to twist just a bit on me.
The DUI does not care where you start the sequence as long as you start #1 where the dissy is pointing when stabbed.
And you follow the correct firing sequence.Any cylinder can be used as #1 as long as you use the one chosen to set timing.
That came out looking pretty tidy.We bent the fenders back in place. I think the owner must have smacked a tree limb with the rollbar while the windshield was down. It pushed the whole rollbar back and down into the fenders.
We jacked it up pretty good on both sides and bent the fenders back up
