Whats the best way to fill in badly pitted metal with occasional pin holes? I used to just cut it all out and weld in new replacement metal. Some areas are hard to replace so what do you suggest?
I have used small strand kitty hair on the bare sandblasted metal but was wondering if some panel adhesive would work to fill in the voids and small pin holes? Should the sandblasted rusted areas be treated with anything before using either the kitty hair or panel adhesive?

There is a place in Sacramento that does that. Had some done and liked the way it turned out. It is zink so you can't weld to it after it is done. Better than bondo as it won't lift or rust. Looks like led work but harder and more perminate.

I have used Alvin's Lab Metal with good success.
I blasted and welded/patched my PIAA fog light cans.
I then plastered over the bad areas with Hi Temp Lab Metal. Looks great after powder coating.
The solvent/thinner is pretty brutal. 50% Toluene I think.

I've had great luck using Devcon (2 part epoxy) on difficult areas. It's incredibly strong - you can even drill and tap for threads without hurting the area. They have formulas for steel, aluminum and titanium since the products are widely used in aviation.

If using it, be sure to not overbuild the area since it can be a real pain to sand since it's so durable.
