Oh Great Ones!!

I am getting a bad rumble sound and my technician has not been able to figure this out.

1. Replaced bearing in transmission and while at it replaced rear main seal.

2. Replaced u joints

3. Tightened rear part of the axle where the driveshaft connects to due to it being lose

4. The technician is out of suggestions since he checked all drive train possibilities and said the throw out bearing was fine also ...

Here is what I do know when I drive it ...

1. When I press the clutch in and slightly press the gas I hear the rumbling noise (DDDRRRRRRRR).

2. When I am not pressing the clutch in and driving I hear the rumble underneath my gas petal and in fron of the engine but since noises travel it is hard to tell. There is also a medium slight vibration along with it.

3. When I am in 4th gear and driving at high speed of 65 miles an hour and I have my foot on the gas, there it is (DDDDDRRRRRRRR) all the way UNTIL I let go of the gas pedal then it soars beautifully.

Oh Great ones with the power within. Please guide me and teach me thou great and mighty things I knowest not.

Do you know if the noise is from the engine, or from the vehicle? To find out, shift into neutral at highway speed and note any changes in the noise, or lack of the noise.

Stupid question but did you grease your u-joints after replacing them?

Good luck-

I have a feeling it is the throw out bearing. I dont know. I know it is coming from the engine. However, when I drive it and slap the gas pedal really quick and let go I get a "CLUUUNK" every time. I can't diagnose this and it is driving me crazy. Not to mention I am out mucho $$$$ already. I need to know what it is ...

P.S. It almost sounds like a muffler sputter along with a rumble but all coming from the engine area????

If your throw-out bearing is bad, usually means that it is seized so its not spinning with the clutch. This in turn makes a squealing noise that is usually loud as hell and unmistakable. If you think it's coming from that area, pull the inspection cover off the bottom of the bell housing a look to see if the clutch hub that the T/O bearing is attached to has the little clips that hold it to the clutch release fork. If not there, it would mean that your T/O bearing isn't coming fully off the clutch pressure plate. This could cause the noise you described, if not that, if your clutch isn't adjusted correctly, and not disengaging all the way, this could make a rumbling noise as well.

Good Luck-
