I got a post on youtube and here is what it said. I live 3 miles up the road from here, ie SF, it's a shame the forest service built a huge water break at the creek crossing. They had a quick public hearing and decided that the road served no public purpose and shut it down. It was one of my favorite wheeling spots.

Anyone know anything else?

Aww that sucks I might have to make a trip up there to see what they did. You are talking about Stonewall right?

Yes, stonewall falls..... really sucks

Boy, the pattern sure seems obvious doesn't it ?

Unfortunately, its probably too late to change their mind.

If you have a favorite trail, you need to get involved with the land manager, District Ranger, etc.

Otherwise it will be closed...

Another post from the gentleman up at Stonewall falls

They had a hearing about 3 or 4 months ago and no one knowed about til the hammer had already dropped, and within a week the had both ends of the road sealed off good enough it would take a 450c caterpillar to get in. You can still go down to stonewall falls but you cant cross the creek.

I went over there yesterday and it is blocked off. I will post some pictures after I get them off my dad's camera.

that really sucks, can we get around the berm?

I left a message with the forest service today in order to try to establish some better form of communication with them. I will mention stonewall falls as an example of what we do not want to happen. The Ranger is supposed to call me back. I will keep you posted. Perhaps we can tie in some of the things that are going on in NC.

I talked at length with the fs in that area when they closed the trail system around Lake Rabun, they were in no way interested in reopening the trails or talking to anyone about an adopt a trail system. good luck with thwm andrew. keep us posted.
