The recently obtained '68 factory FST has me confused. Built in Sept '67, I'm wondering which hub caps were used. Any thoughts would be appreciated. There seems to be some crossover parts? This one was sold new in West Covina Ca. Jan 1968.

I came here because I'm not part of the sawzall v8 crowd. My vast experience in box top Broncos, Lotus Elans, early Porsche and early Boss 302's always steers me to using the correct parts.

Regards from Scoutingranch

Beautiful stock rig. Congrats.

Welcome with what looks like a very unmolested rig. Known as a factory soft top, FST, or just a FJ40L. I'm sure an original canvas top is in your future.......you'll find out it's no convertible.;)

Love the period mods, Ramsey winch could have been dealer installed. Trying to figure out why it had a master cylinder attached to it then realized hydraulic trailer brakes tied into the system.

It was dumb luck Archie. I was hunting a FST all over the Southwest U.S and this popped up five miles from the casa. Go figure.

You guys that have 25's are some lucky lads.

Thank you pardion. There is a fellow selling the Acorns on Ebay. Not cheap but so be it.

Jim, you are correct and I stand corrected....not a convertible. Yep, new top indeed will be on the radar. Correct of course, or as close as I can get. According to some factory lit I have, the Ramsey was on the option list and yes, probabley dealer installed. In this case it is a PTO out the front winch.

I just found a '69 FST in modded very rough condition with a v8 here in SoCal if anyone is looking. It ain't "purdy" but has good potential to be brought back to "correctness"

More questions forthcoming if you guys let me hang out here.

Regards,
mike

Beat me to it

We'll let anyone that shares hang out. If you want to use this as your intro thread, rather than a hubcap thread PM me a suggested title.

You have a cool old '40.
You want to keep it stock.
The bezel is properly positioned.

I think they'll let you stay.

:-)

Darth Vader light is intact and in place. Very cool!

You'll notice I didn't provide pictures of the rear area.......yes......the typical rust across the back. I wanted to be the cool guy for just a bit longer.

Also, see the smog equipment still intact. There are some odd wires here and there as I have yet to investigate where they go. This will be a long process as all grounds and wires shall be disconnected and cleaned to include fuses. Clean the cooling system and oiling system with my secret weapon cleaners.

White vinegar for the cooling and Kreen (Kano Labs) for the internal engine cleanup.
