"Golden60" posted on the local TLCA club's forum inviting us to a "backcountry comms" class to be held on 9 April in Denver, CO.

Posting the link here as I believe several of you would find it of interest--albeit impractical to attend.

I am tentatively planning to attend; If I do, I will take notes and pass to you.

Backcountry Comms | Talk to your world

Hey SAS,
Please let me know what they have to say in the class. I'm curious.

If I can make it to Coal Miners this year, I was considering setting up an HF (High Frequency) radio in the camp grounds just to see what parts of the country/world we can talk to. Is anyone interested in seeing what long distance comms via HF radio is all about? The more interest there is, the more I will be encouraged to do it.

If I go, would love to... Great idea.

I went to this and took a lot of notes; I've transcribed my hand-written notes to digits/Word, so I will send to you guys. Overall, it was very general about HAM capabilities, and APRS interface. There were 115 in attendance, with eight or nine vendors and their rigs in the parking lot afterwards--HAM Radio Outlet (business in Denver), Adventure Tool Company (also based in Denver), etc.
