I am thinking about ordering a set of auzzie lockers or my 86 hj60. anyone got anything to say about them? on and off road? anyone else interested to split the shipping or know where to get them here?:grinpimp:

not much to say about em, used to have a lockright in my bj40, I took it out because it scared the crap outta me on that drive out to nitinat on the weekends...back end of the truck kept wanting to become the front end on gravel corners and the washboard fishtail was freaky.

Do believe that locker is now in Wombat's 40, and he's had it a helluva lot longer than I did...

but I hear aussies are better behaved, and your trucks a wee bit longer than a 40...

ya i am i little worried about how they will handle on gravel. from what i have read the auzzie locker allow the outside wheel to spin faster soo that shouldn't be to bad. I have a 96 cherroke that i run back and forth to town with (way f*%&ing smoother) the cruiser is more for my bush rig. with the hubs unlocked to the lockers play any part on the front end?

he just gave me a quote for 270usd for each and 45 for shipping. but is specific for the hj60, unless your are the same...i am new, no idea. i was thinking of ordering so i get them for christmas

Ya i've got arb's now but that lockrite worked pretty good for me(i dont drive like seapotato) the only negative i had was the typical click click click as you turn into a tight parking spot.

that click click would just be the outside wheel spinning faster and going past the locks?

no, front only acts funky with the hubs locked, otherwise it's like it isn't there.

Does sorta mess up your abilities to drive on the road in snow though. you loose the "rudder" action of the undriven wheel to keep you going straight, same with the rear to a lesser degree, but fishtailing with the backend is easier to deal with than the front...

I had one briefly in the back of my 45 too, ( in there when I got it) it was a touch worn , or set up too loose... sounded like I had a cannon mounted in the bed of the truck...the noises it let out were fawkin savage...

So, naturally I sold it to a buddy to stick in his cruiser...:hillbilly:

I like my aussie, its in the rear. As for fronts, don't waste your money on a front locker unless its selectable like an ARB. Weld it. There will be very little difference between welded and an auto locker. It will lock every time you turn your steering wheel the littlest bit causing hard steering (while in 4 wheel drive). The only advantage is with an auto locker in the front you can put the t-case in 2 wheel drive and it should perform somewhat normally without binding and bucking on a high traction surface.

uhmmm, maybe i will just lock up the back, i don't lke front drift in the snow...or the front pushing. I do need that thing to get outta Nitinaht in the crappy ass winter months. i like the rear drift though.... time to ponder:beer:

I ran a lunch box in the rear for about 5 years in my 40 with a 350 on tap and had no problems. It will teach you better throttle control. If you are an off on type throttle person you are not going to like it. Also I highly recommend not welding or lunch box in front. Save up and get a selectable.

I have an aussie in the back of my bj60, and it is good off-road, but I do not like it on road (my truck is my daily driver). if you're interested in a used one I will see you mine;). If wears your tires considerably, and clicks and will BANG really loud if you're not careful. However it has been very reliable, and seems fine on gravel once you're aired down a little. I wish I had just gone with ARB's.

The only throttle control it taught me is to pin it around tight corners!

I went the other way, pulled my ARB from the rear to install in the front but its not a daily driver. Its a simple unit, reliable and I have not been able to get it to bang. It clicks a bit.
