Hey guys, I know that this subject has been beat to death but I would like any new input on a good scanner. After hitting the archives and the web for quite some time the Autoxray 4000 ($300) and OTC Mindreader ($400) seem like two of the better models while taking price, quality, and features into consideration. I don't have a palm pilot or laptop for some of those good scanners. Any feedback, including the pummeling I'll take for bringing this subject back up, would be appreciated. It's great that Junk got his mindreader for $100, but some of these fools on ebay are now looking for more money than for what I could buy one outright.

Brad, where in PA are you? If close to NJ, feel free to stop over and check out the mindreader. There's a few things I like about it, although everyday a new scanner is being produced with more options. With the Mindreader, you can; datastream - record or view; check the codes with fairly good descriptions and clear the codes. There's more it can do than that, but it is not a high level (aka pricey) reader/scanner. That said, it's seen a lot of use and was definitely worth buying. I think everyone on a forum like this should have some level of checking their codes.

Even if you're not close to NJ, if you want, PM me your addy and I can send it to you to try out if you'd like. I just need to get it back in time for CMCC.
