I figured that several of the posters here have purchased their FJ, etc from out of state. Can anyone refer a auto transporter or suggest those to stay away from?

Much thanks.

I transport full time ....

Crawlers - FJ's - Jeeps

The problem I run into - most folks are not willing to spend
the coin to transport ;)

They get a quote from a broker & figure that is the price
they can get a haul for - but that is only a price from
someone promising to haul on behalf of somebody else

For door to door custom hauling - you need it to go
on the same trailer with the same driver for the
entire trip and not pay any deposit up front

That is what I do :D

So, if anyone owns a vehicle they want hauled,
you can PM - Email - Phone

I used Coast to Coast 800-794-9009 and they were great to work with. FYI, there are shady brokers and good one's and what he suggested as door to door only being provided by a service such as his is false. My truck from Idaho to Rhode Island was on the same truck from start to finish $1,300.00

I see where you are coming from, but using a broker is sometimes much more beneficial in terms of getting a good price. Timing can be everything in the shipping game. A person deadheading it back to the "right coast" is gonna be willing to pick up a vehicle on the way for alot less $$ than you who may have to pull out your front driveway and drive 1500 miles just to pick up the vehicle. You will rightly add that in the cost of the shipment. Regarding deposits I don't pay the broker until the vehicle is in my possession.

As for people using companies that put the vehicle on different trailers etc. I could care less. My broker (who I have been dealing with for 12 years now) will not use a company unless they prove they are bonded and insured. If it never shows up or shows up damaged she has all of there insurance info and can put a claim in on her own.

A good broker should definitely have a LONG list of transport companies that they call even before putting it on dispatch.
