Nolen has a slick setup in his rig....basically, taking the stock clutch pedal and setting it up to be used as a left foot and lower brake pedal. Helps ease the left-leg workout from the high stock FJ40 pedal position.

However, his is solid mounted....I was concerned with that since a total loss of brake fluid in one circuit may mean your pedal will need to go to the floor, and the 2nd pedal will limit that.

So, a designed a revised version tonite...stock clutch pedal, 1/2" rod, and a u-shaped bracket that captures the stock arm when the 2nd pedal is pressed, but allows it to push freely thru should the need arise....

thots??

I mounted my brake booster (etc) on the clutch side and planning to weld a peice of flat bar beteen the pedels. I like having the abilty to use both feet in tight situations, but catch myself occationally trying to step on the dead brake pedal.

I like it simple yet effective.

Must be nice to drop your left foot that much further over and down for comfort on long crawls.

You'll have to let us know how it works on the trail. I'm thinking if I have a hydraulic line loss, I have a e-brake. Not as good as the second circuit, but it's there. I wonder if tripping over that high pedal will get old.

No worse than stock, I suppose.

Not bustin your chops or anything, I'm just thinking that room is tight in the footwell with a cage. It would be nice to gain some room.

my footwell has piles of room in there....cage design is everything, the A hoop doesn't interfere one lick with pedal space.

There is still room for footsie beneath the lower clutch pedal, you won't be jealous... :D

I'm thinking about doing something of the same effect except with a manual. Hook up a hand brake from a bicycle with a cable attached to the gas pedal. That away I can control the clutch and the brake with my feet and my right hand with the throttle and shifting duties. Though it could get interesting in a tight situation and I just grab the hand throttle really hard and kaboom!

hand throttles are a common install, on the shift tower, hooked up at the carb linkage tho...used to run one myself....bike shop parts rock for that.....

You'd be surpried how much force it takes to pin the throttle with a hand throttle. It's not very likely you'll do it by mistake.

As Woody pointed out, run the cable to the carb or throttle body, not the gass pedal.....bicycle brake lever, tandom bike rear brake cable are the way to go

adder: when I ran the hand throttle, since the cable movement is fairly small due to the design of bike shifters, it ran from idle to about 2500 when pegged...perfect for trail use, but not even high enuf for a poor mans cruise control....
