Hi,

I'm from Australia, and own a 1990 Toyota Landcruiser Ute, 4.2L diesel. 75 series...

After a couple of 4wding expeditions on sand, I'm coming across with some problems.

Firstly, I have a pretty large power steering leak which leaks about 300mL of fluid in 5 days.

Secondly, it seems as though I have a couple rocks somewhere in my rear brakes. Is there an easy way to remove it?

Lastly, I just realised that when I apply my brakes, when I'm nearly about to stop, there is a loud kinda rubbing noise in my fronts brakes..

Any ideas/advice ? Would be greatly appreciated.

Aaron

Hi Aaron and welcome to our forum.
The PS has 2 hoses that leak ,1 is the high pressure from pump to steering box and the other is a low pressure return hose. The reservoir on top can also leak as can the steering box.

You need to clean it all down with degreaser and work out exactly where its leaking from.

As for your brakes I bet they dont work too well either. The noise in the rear brakes maybe rocks or it could be the shoes are loose and rattling.
You will have to pull the drums off to be sure,an easy job if they are not glued on with rust and mud.

The front brakes sound like they are ready for new pads and maybe new discs as well.
Both front and rear need a strip down and inspection.
The minimum will be an adjustment on the rear including the handbrake and new pads on the front also
Its not too hard if you have a manual

EDIT As for the noise from the front,do you have big mudflaps? Mine use to do this and it drove me nuts. Check for telltale signs of rubbing on the mudflaps. I pinned mine back with some thin chain from Bunnings

There is some free onine manuals at the top of the 70 series forum,it can take a while to find a slot.
I dont think there is a Body and Chassis manual for a 75 series but the 60 series has the same brakes as yours ,so you could use that Body and Chassis manual.
Each model has its own separate engine and body manual, the 1HZ engine manual is definately there.

Have a read of the manual and a clean up and get back to us;)

hi. iv got a land cruiser 75 series 1hz and it has no pulling and speed doesnt go more 100kmph. i knew my engine was opend a few times and it needed a rebuild so i decided to buy a almost new 1hz engine for a toyota land cruiser 79 series. after i changed my engine the problem was still there. i changed my nozzles and serviced my injector pump fully. any idea what can be the problem?

You would be better off starting a new post in the diesel forum.
