I gotta do two of them. Pull the diff and come on down and we'll figure it out

you should follow the aussie instructions which uses feeler gauges to measure thrust washer clearances. And you should be prepared with an assortment of thrust washers.

I've done a bunch and just dropping them in as shown in the above link with provide marginal results.

Part numbers?

I can look the up later, I did a 40 diff that had copper/brass thrust washers that were beat up and a center pin that was worn real bad, it would be a good idea to brake the doffs down and inspect them closely,

Rick (landtank) helped me with mine and I wouldn't classify it as a 1 banana job... if you want to hack it in than no problem to get the correct clearences and adjustments to make it work right and last.... i would say 2 bananas.. just my 2 cents...

Well sometimes you gotta try new things. If I didn't try new things I would still be paying for brake jobs and oil changes.
Started the install on one of my diffs. Looks good and meets tolerences other that a slight bit of wear on the pin. Going to order a new one just to be on the safe side.

Okay. I had no clearance problems with the first one. And other than the sheared off bolt on the center pin Jay's came out good. I start the other of mine and I'm at the low end on one side and too low on the other. No problem I'll order a different set of shims. I check the size and its .156 check part numbers and this looks like its the smallest shim already which is supposed to be .0155 - .165. I don't think .001 if I could get it would make enough of a difference. So I assum that I need a new diff? Anyone know if I can make any other adjustments.

I'll give it a shot. The only problem is that its tight on both sides. If that doesn't work i will pull another front diff I have around and see how that works.

Going to try a different route. Ordered a Mini spool for a 12 bolt Chevy rear end for $78 off Amazon (I had a $75 gift card anyway). Heard they can be made to fit with a few mods. Should be here tomorrow. I'd rather blow up a cheap mini spool over a $300 locker. I was going to weld it but I don't like how you can't weld a Semi float rear into one giant chunk of metal and still get the C-clips in.
