Hi All - just an update, I just finished the Aussie locker install on the 40. Fourtrax came over this evening and had a drink and suggested we start on it. I backed it into the garage and about 2 hours later we were finished. All that is left is to pick up the cover gasket at Fred Anderson tomorrow and put some fluid in it..then go test it out.:bounce:

Now, I just need to find a bracket to mount the FJ60 power steering pump somewhere on the 40 and I can start thinking about that next.

I will put some pics up in the next day or so, I did not take too many though.

Yeah, they were in good condition and the spacing ended up being .156, cannot wait to try it out.

sweet. From all my reading (mostly 80 guys though) i have only heard of one person needing new shims. Mine were so tight that i was holding the shims on with grease during the install. The grease actually caused it to be out of spec. I cleaned it up and tried again, and it was in spec.

Youre gonna love it, thats alot of traction for the money.

yeah, the front is on the list as well, but I need to get pwr steering, front bumper and winch installed before I do that :)

Do not have power steering on mine, it is a bit rough but is workable. Now as i get a little older it is not so fun, and that is why the one i am finally getting ready to start will have power steering.

Mine's Aussie in the rear for 3 years now. Very happy. Probably should pop the cover and take a peak sometime, but I haven't had any issues so I let it ride. It has really bound up and popped about 3 times since I had it in, and that seems to have quit - although I hardly put ANY miles on the thing except on the trail.

Hi Greg / all

I have not started the carb yet, I have the kit, still need to find a float...other than that I think I am ready to start it.

Have to find a bracket of some sort to mount the fj60 power steering pump and then find all the other pieces, like shaft, couplers etc.
