im available for either day, so whatever works best for you guys.

pick one or both depending on what is best for you and we will go from there

sorry for being such a slacker on getting the dates set.

i can thank Sam for the friendly reminder!

is there a set topic?

It'll likely be a raffle truck work day unless a good number of people want to do something else.

Anyone up for replacing bearings and seals in a rear axle? Went to get my 4Runner inspected and got rejected due to an axle seal leak that drenched my brakes on the driver side. With 137k miles on the bearings but only 30k on the seal on that side, I think a worn bearing caused the seal to fail early. Anyway, I've got 15 days to get it re-inspected so I know what I'll be doing this weekend...instead of working on the 40.:wrench::wrench::wrench::wrench:

Do we live in Florida?? 63 views and no votes.........

anywho...Jon do you have the parts yet for your truck? i know it would be abit sensitive to do that service work at the shop without somehow going through the shop....

you are aware of the need for a press and usually a "special" tool to hold the bearing pocket while pressing right?? we have a good "tool" for doing rear wheel bearings.

i don't care what you guys want to do for tech day, just pick a day that works best for you.......

right now I don't know which end is up as far as my schedule. pick a date and I'll try my best to be there

No worries, I'm covered on that little project for now. I ordered the seals and bearing kit from Marlin Crawler. Tom advised me to listen to the little voices and they told me to have it done by someone who knows what they're doing. It's my DD so I'm going to have a local shop near my office do the job.

As far as the Raffle Truck goes, we need to check out the motor. Any chance of going over the finer points of assessing the condition of a 2F engine and/or what to do before startng a 2F that has been sitting idle for more than a year? Maybe even how to mothball a spare engine?

The other thing we need to do is assess the body parts, determine which are the best candidates for restoration, and learn what is involved in order to return them to their former glory.

Other topics to think about are:
- How to Upgrade guages
- Choosing/designing and installing sliders, roll bars/cages, etc.
- Extending differential and transfer case vents
- Rebuilding a rear axle
- Field repair of a birfield
- Geometry of doing a SOA
- Suspension mods to improve articulation
- How to drink beer out of Vince's ARB Freezer/Fridge:beer::beer::beer:
