Are we still having the HAMOM at Doc's in Sumter on the 21st of Aug? If so, I have the diffs and lockers set up and the seals for the front axle on the 4runner. All I need to do is slide the diffs in and rebuild the front axle. I don't mind getting greasy as long as someone can tell me what to do! How much gear oil and wheel bearing grease do I need. I've also got the wheel bearings. Is there anything else I need to bring like shop towels or degreaser? I guess I'll need brake fluid... What's the best degreaser that y'all use? Thanks guys. Hope to see ya on Sat if it's still on!

I have sent Doc a message to confirm. Last talk of the Hamon was 7/29 when dbenke announced it on the meeting thread - and I am assuming at the meeting 8/7?

I'll call Doc and confirm, but the plan is still to meet there Sat. morn.

Hammon at doc's

I'll be here for sure. Real short trip for me. Maybe 90 feet. Looking foreward to seeing you all. Oh bring lots of paper towels for the diff and seals jobs messy to say the least. See ya then.

Great! I got a pack of shop rags and a roll of shop paper towels... I'll bring some extra paper towels just in case. Good to hear from you. Hope you're doing good! See ya Saturday! Thanks!

How do newcomers get there - or for that matter - those that are not newcomers but have never been there before?

When you get to 3900 you will see a row of trees by the mailbox and two roads one on each side of the row of trees, the second is doc's driveway, he's located behind the house fronting on blackberry lane.

3900 blackberry lane is just off st hwy 120 (locally know as pinewood road) approximatly 8 miles south west of Sumter toward Pinewood. Comming from Sumter when you see Cox road there will be a store on the right then the next left is Blackberry Lane . I'm on the right app 1/4 mile down look for the sign and mailbox both have the number then down the lane to your right and your here. By the way google it good map. Doc:cheers:

Had a great time at Doc's! I want to thank everybody that was there that helped. I missed everyone that couldn't make it. You missed a great messy time! We got the diffs in and the front knuckles serviced. It drives so much better with lower gears! Now just to fix the exhaust leak:) The speedometer is right on now! Thanks Doc and David and Doc's son!! There is no way that I could have done it without all that you did!!!

Thanks for the cudo's and you did most of the work I noticed both David and I and Joe left all the greasy mess to you!!!Any way thanks for coming by to see the old man, it was agood day. Thank you too David!!!

Glad you got it worked out Scott....

Was any work done on Docs rig to get him closer to being able to drive that bad boy?

Oh yeah we rolled it out of the shop and back in to keep down rust in the bearings. Started it and ran it at idle and 2500 rpm for a while just to listen to the roar!!! ;)

It's nice to hear them roar after they have been asleep for so long.

I ran mine last night just enjoying the sound of the V8 and looking for leaks. I figured out that if you don't have any gear oil in the transfer case, or all of the bolts connecting it in place, then 90wt from the tranny will punk out the holes.:lol:
