Is anyone running this sub? It’s a dual voice coil 4 ohm sub... trouble is is that the factory was a single voice coil and running the Audiopipe in series doesn’t put out any sound... running one set of connections is loud and running at 2 ohms... I’m afraid it will burn up my amp... if you have this sub how did you wire it?

It’s a 2002 LX. How many ohms am I shooting for? I’ve seen 12, 8, 2... 🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️ I’ll reverse the wires this evening and give it a try.

I know for 05 LX the stock sub was 4 ohms. If switching polarity doesn’t work it might be the amp.

🤔 crazy thing is it plays with one set of connects hooked up... run both in series and nothing... I will also say it played its ass off when I hooked it up to the one connects... going to reverse them this afternoon

Your “bridge” wire, one end is negative and the other positive terminal? The the wire from the amp should go to the correct terminal.

I had one and it blew 4 months later. After using that and a brand new stock unit that also prematurely blew, I went for a CDT audio woofer. Couldnt be happier. Pricey though as they only sell in pairs.

Did you have it wired in series? I can’t get the second coil to play and I’d like to get it to 8 ohms and reduce the strain on the amp.

I had the single coil 4 ohm version inline with an 8ohm resistor on the red side. You could wire it that way. Not sure how to wire the dual to keep it at 4ohms. I also had it cut off on me until I wired in that resistor

Checking my old purchase. It looks like I ordered 2 and wired them together to make the audio stop cutting off on me. 06LX

So I’m shooting for 12 ohms?

You could buy 2 of the 8ohms and try one turning up the volume to see if it cuts off before adding the 2nd one. Reading previous threads, I have not seen a clear answer on what ohm woofer our amps can handle / prefer, and for which model years. 2 of them wired together worked for me.

Good luck!

Just hooked it up with one set of connectors and buttoned it up... I played a country song with half bass and it was rattling it’s butt off... I’m assuming it’s blown... that could be why it wasn’t playing before?

Mine is a 02 LC and the sub box shows the same as this one, 7.4 ohm. This pic was from an older thread on mud. I believe my CDT dual voice sub is a 4 ohm ran in series.

@JDWCruiserMS how did it turn out? I need to do the same for my 02 LX. Any tips?
@fjlust80 it has turned out well! No amp issues, no speaker issues... a bit of vibration back there on deep bass songs or the volume is to loud... works great for everyday use...

With options so limited on the speaker selection it was one of the only ones I could find that would fit with the depth and ohm requirements... I’d say maybe consider using some sound proofing / sound mat to maybe control some rattling and vibration... also, be prepared to remove tumble seats, fold rears up, and remove a fair amount of interior cladding to get to the speaker... do a deep clean while your in there... might as well! The tailgate plastic, left door insulation and cladding, side panel, and some carpet will be moved around to get at it... hope this helps!

Got it. Thanks @JDWCruiserMS! I'm still poking around, but all roads seem to lead back to this.
