ATV/Cycle Trailer Build Questions

Hello all,

Got some toys here for my boys and no real good way to haul them around. So i said to myself why not use the 60, Heck it has a V-8 and 4.56 gears.

So here is the questions.

- I was leaning toward a 5x7 foot trailer but need some feed back from you guys who haul around your toys and what size works best, We have a XR80 and 110 Quad, with plans on getting a bike and quad my wife and i could drive with them, total of 4 toys. Right now just have the 2.

- Axle size, 2000 lb or 3500 lb?
- I was thinking of making removable sides that could double as ramps. Sides will only be about 8-12 inches tall.
- Can i order a axle with toyota pattern from ABC Trailer.
- To keep wight down floor was gonna be expanded metal. (over size steel mesh)
- Tires, I have a set of used 33's, should i use them?
- How do i figure out the tounge length and axle place ment.
- Brakes or no brakes? Load will be about 1500 i guess at its max. may a bit more on a crazy weekend.

Any ideas or input greatly appricated. Thanks again

cheers

You can order the 6 on 5.5 axle from ABC, but it will come 3500# or larger.
I like the idea of sides that double as ramps.....

BTW, the axle will come ready to equip with brakes so you can add later if you feel the need

well i think i found my axle then i like the fact i can add later if i like

33's are gonna be too tall. You want to keep the center of gravity down as low as you can.

x2 on 3500' axles & side-loading ramps as good things. Expanded metal will be great for letting the mud drip through!

Have you looked at some of the trailer plans available on-line: that'll give you an idea of placement. Or, go to a trailer lot and 'shop' the options.

Look forward to watching your build!

Yea i am having second thouths too on the 33's .
looks i maynot start the build for a bit yet. Steel is darn expensive. but that is to be expected. no worries
