this is probably old news to for all the lc gurus but this might help some of the challenged like myself. my '85 fj60 has been a hard starter for the 3 years that i've owned it. the p.o. told me "it's just how it starts". the starter has had to crank anywhere from 3-4 seconds to 7-8 when cold until the engine fires. i tried every starting routine that i read on this forum and changed out all the normal maintenence items to no avail. "SCHAATS" finally suggested i check the accelerator pump on the carb. it had a tiny amount of fuel around the outside and i noticed that it wasn't delivering fuel like it should so i replaced it and the boot. it starts immediately now! had a slight hesitation from a standstill that is gone now too. so here's props to "SCHAATS". price from the dealer for the pump was @ $27. cheers
