I posted a similar thread recently about midnight black LCs. I'm looking to purchase a new 200 series. How does the Blue Onyx paint hold up and how hard is to hide scratches/swirls? I'm steering clear of black LCs based on the feedback I got, but a blue onyx LC popped up locally recently that got my attention. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't had any issues to be honest. I have a few scratches from skis being leaned against the car, but besides that it's been bomber

I really like my blue onyx/terra combo. Any dark color is going to be harder to maintain than a lighter one. Mine definitely has some Nevada "pinstriping " but that's on me. Stay away from automatic car washes and invest in an orbital polisher (and learn how to properly use it) and that will keep your paint in good condition.

I'd buy a white one or get mine wrapped white if I cared at all about those issues. Dark colors are going to show everything.

The dark blue and black aren't going to be a whole lot different is showing dirt and scratches. Charcoal hides dirt ok, but not scratches.

White is the best, and silver and gold do quite well too. White is very easy to color match for any touch-ups compared with a light metallic like silver.

I have a 1997 80 series in near perfect condition and looking to add a 200 if I could get a blue one. I found blue 2018 with 100K miles, so getting the bug and may go take a look at it.

My parents onyx blue (2018) is looking outstanding.

Now, my dad knows how to wash a car. Dirt chargers in bottom of buckets, three different buckets to not get cleaned off dirt back into the paint. Different mitts for different areas. Electric blower to dry. So he probably just doesn’t create the level of damage that most people would by accident.

That all said, he does mention how he likes that it’s almost black, while being easier to take care of. Take that as you will to help you with purchasing that color or not.
