Hey,

I am up in Athens with my FJ40 that I am just now out and on the road with for the first time in a LONG time.

Just wondering if anyone on here lived in Athens, it'd be great to have some land cruiser contacts up here. Ive seen a few FJ40s and '60s around.

I need to do my timing cover seal soon (again) too if anyone wants to drink beer and supervise.

let's see there's @tgreco in Watkinsville, @downhilldave in Tignal, and I forget big Tony's screen name also in Watkinsville. Tony and Dave pretty muc hangout on the rides but don't make the meetings, big Tony sometimes makes it with his daughter.

As Ted indicated, I'm in Watkinsville but just over the Clarke County line on Simonton Bridge Rd.

That's a good looking Cruiser, but unfortunately I don't know jack about them. I do know a lot about drinking beer and supervising though :hillbilly:. I've seen a few 40s, 60s, and older mini trucks/4Runners around town, but I don't think anybody gathers to wrench, although there might be some interest if the word got out. Post up work-weekend dates, and I'd love to stop by and chat.

Not that it looks like you need it, but I do have a welder and plasma cutter at the house if you want/need to fab anything.

Well I am thinking about tackling the seal next weekend. Should be able to do it in a couple few hours. Glad to hear there are some toyota fans around here. Im just off loop 10 exit 6.

@tgreco How do you feel about building a rear bumper/tire carrier ?

Good luck with the seal. In regard to the bumper, we could definitely give it a go if you could come up with a design you like. I built the front bumper on my truck and learned a few valuable fab skills. To be honest, you'll probably be able to buy a better looking bumper but it will be way more expensive. For what it's worth, I probably have ~ $100 in steel for a bumper that would have cost a lot more off the shelf. I tend to lean toward function over fashion so I'll leave the call up to you.

If you're after a pretty simple design, I'm sure we could pull off a pretty good product.

Here's my first go at bumper fab before paint:

I just won't follow y'all in my truck...

Ill draft up a couple ideas. I like the Man a Free swing out, but its 1600. I feel like it would be fairly simple, I don't care too much about an intricate bumper.

I am going to tackle the timing cover oil leak today. If any one doesn't have anything better to do on their day off, feel free to swing through. Beer and pizza is on site, but not guaranteed to be around long.
