Hi,

I have read a number of threads on tire recommendations for the 200 but none of them seem to answer my more specific question. What are the best-performing AT tires when it comes to highway noise and ride quality?

I am looking to get a set of Method NV wheels and some more off-road suited tires. I am in CO and have a pair of Blizzaks which I love and will always use in the winter. Likely to do some wheeling but mostly will be mountain highway driving on dry roads.

I am currently looking at the K02s, Falken AT3W and Toyo Open Country.

Thanks!

I run the toyo open country r/t. They are between and a/t and a m/t and handle nice.

Maybe more of what are you after? Noise? Weight? Where in the aggressive tread scale?

I have nokians for winter and KO2’s (load D) for the rest of the time. I think this is my 4th set of them between 3 rigs. Almost mandatory thought the I-25 gap these days.

I went with the Toyo Open Country AT3. Very pleased with the AT3’s. Great on highway, low noise, great traction and look good.

If your priorities are highway noise and ride quality, I personally would suggest to stay away from KO2s or AT3Ws. They are both on the more aggressive end of the AT tire spectrum with emphasis on tractive qualities. While impressively quiet for what they are, they both will have low level noise, especially at higher speeds on the freeway. In my experience, KO2s will be slightly nosier and ride firmer than AT3Ws.

Of the three you listed, Toyo Open Country in the newest A/T III looks very promising. Initial reviews shows it strikes a good balance, with less noise and NVH than its competitive set. Make sure it's the latest A/T IIIs as the A/T II, being decade old tech, are not going to hit the mark.

A couple suggestions if you're particularly sensitive to noise and NVH - Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S, Continental TerrainContact A/T
