Howdy! Anyone running the ASFIR front bumper on their 90? I am about to start assembly, and have the schematics, but was wondering if anyone has any more clear procedural instructions for it that might act as a nice guide. Pic is of my 96 KZJ95 after it got a suspension upgrade!

Update: Slowly making progress using the assembly schematic, but it's been a challenge. Got the framing assembly ready to mount to the frame of the Prado, thinking that the factor studs coming out of the frame were what it mounts to and the nuts reused. However, there was not enough thread left on the shorter studs, and the nuts stripped when I was attempting to torque them down.

Turns out that you actually have to extract those studs (which had definitely never been touched in the truck's 28 year lifespan and were a giant pain in the ass) and then they are replaced with M12 bolts that come with the bumper kit. Couldn't tell from using the schematic that this was the solution until kind of looking back at it in hindsight. Got the old studs removed by using an extraction adapter on a breaker bar, and tomorrow will pick up where I left off.

P.S. - I nearly put a hole in my radiator while trying to break one of the old nuts free. Got REAL close

Finally done with the install. Was quite a pain in the butt, and had to manipulate some of the body subframe members to get it to fit decently, and even at that, the fitment is still a bit off. I quadruple checked that I wasn't snagging anything due to my own stupidity, and was sure it wasn't.

Overall, for the budget friendliness, can't complain too much. Here's to hoping and praying it holds up and treats me well!

Do you still have the factory bull-bar? I am in AZ and am interested in buying it if available.
I am going back to Ireland for the summer so i will be able to get my truck ready for usa import!
I am located in AZ when I am in the US.

Cheers,
Finn

You still looking to sell the factory bull guard?

Jdub94- I looked on ASFIR’s website for the front bumper for my 1996 KZJ95, but nothing showed up. Is that front bumper listed under a different model/year that happens to fit the KZJ95?

Hey I spoke with @Jdub94 and he told me he doesn’t recommend their bumpers just FYI

That’s good to know, thanks for the info. Do you know of another brand front/rear bumper that is reputable/has good ratings?
Look for an ARB, TJM or Coastal Offroad
That’s what I was told in a different thread
I have also heard rock armor isn’t bad

It’s hard to find some of these companies when you just Google them because sometimes they don’t do business in the US as much. But then US companies don’t have a lot of options for Prado since the 90/95 wasn’t sold here.
I think the late 90s 4 runner may be the same fitting? But not sure
Prado 100 onwards would be comparable with GX
