Are these the fill/drain holes on the Diff (pics)?

Please post up when you change the front diff oil. I will be tackling this job soon and would be interested in any hints or tricks.

packetstorming, when you do the front mine needed a 10mm allen. I didn't get the allen to wrench converter so I had to use a puny 10mm allen wrench and oh lordy that gave me bloody knuckles torquing that thing. The bolts are facing out on the passenger's side and it's really close to the suspension arms (in other words little to no space to work). You definitely cannot pour the fluid in with a 1L bottle. You will need to use some tubing that routes out of the wheel where someone can squeeze the bottle (or you can hook the tubing to a pump). If you need pics I can take some for you if I get a chance.

Tips regarding the center: It is possible to use a 1L bottle but it was really hard for me to empty the entire 1L bottle since there were parts in the way that made it impossible to lift the 1L bottle any higher than the filler hole. So I just kept refilling the 1L bottle and squeezing it.

The rear was the easiest.

About 6" of 3/8" tubing stuck on the tapered bottle cap will get you done on the xfer case.

...I used a long piece of 1/4 I.D. tubing attached to the diff oil jug spout. The space is too tight to fit the oil bottle...I snaked the tubing under the truck and into the filler hole.

This. And, have a beer within reach. 75W-90 doesn't pass through 1/4" tubing quickly even with a vent hole cut into the bottom of the quart bottle. Picked up the 10mm allen key socket at a local auto parts store.

Easy, but time consuming (and potentially messy if you're not paying attention).

Thanks for the tips guys...

I will pick that 10mm allen socket up when I go checker.

Already have a pump and tubing for my diff oil bottles so I am good there.

Do the skid plates have to come off to perform all these services?

For the rear, I had no skidplates from my stock truck. The center transfer case has a little mini skid pad protecting it and taken off by 3 bolts, rather easy to do.

You will need to take the front skidpad off. I think you can do it without taking it off but just do it cause it's only around 6 bolts that aren't held on that tightly and it's a heck of a lot harder with it on.
