And yes jim/steve currently I am running CHEVY 250 inline six in that.

Now I dont know yet how the PO made it run on my stock 4speed, but on this weekend I am gonna take some pics of that clubbing and will mail you to post it here in this forum.

Archie, did you ever get to see how this went together? Anyone else have an idea? I never heard of the Toyota bellhousing being adapted directly to the Chevy block pattern, and that doesn't seem practical.

Wild ass theory here. The early chevy truck tranny (pre-SM420) had a similar mounting surface to the FJ25 tranny. Will that bellhousing bolt up to the later Chevy block pattern?

Or Archie, is it possible you have the old Chevy 235 and not the 250? Or maybe there is a transitional Chevy bellhousing? http://www.chevrolet.com.au/articles/engine_swap.htm

Just idle thoughts here.......

What would prevent the old plate adapters that used to work with SM420 bellhousings and 3-speeds from working with the FJ25 4-sp? I thought the early 4-sp had a round bearing retainer/bellhousing hole so maybe...but then I've never seen one of those early 4-speeds other than in Jim's and Foxfab's trucks. Just a thought...

Nick, I always assumed the 25 shared the pattern with the three speed, until I tried to bolt them together. The bearing retainer is a different size and the bottom two mounting holes are spaced closer together, but I think the top two are the same.

Maybe that's what they did, used the plate adapter and redrilled the bottom holes, or just redrilled a Chevy housing.

sorry guys for being away from this forum for some time, actually I was getting frustated with my project, and still so many things to finish.

on chevy 250, I found out what PO did, he used the original chevy bellhousing and an adapter plate to bolt with 25's tranny. infact I just put in chevy 292 in it using everything same as it was with 250 and now my rig is running like a dream.

Hopefully you took a few pictures! :)

Sounds good, the 292 is a good motor, much better torque, but your gas mileage won't be as good.

Don't get frustrated, can't be impatient with a 25.....just ask Steve. ;p

That's right. Because if it all starts working properly, then something is terribly wrong. ;)

Is that like the old saw about Rovers...you don't worry about oil leaks. You worry when they stop leaking?

Actually, it's more like . . . if there's absolutely nothing to fix, then someone secretly replaced your FJ25 with another truck.

Matter of fact, for your dining and dancing enjoyment . . . take a peak at my most recent escapade under "FJ25 Master Cylinders." :frown:

Don't Know. I blamed it on Junk. :flipoff2: Now that thread is missing in chat....so it must be true. (Only Woody appears to have the green right now.)
