Recently picked up a 100 series with an ARB Twin Compressor installed; I believe the model number is CKMTA12. It appears to also have a VERY small aux air tank on it as well, which I seem to recall the PO pointing out to me.

Question:

The compressor seems to run at start up no matter the position of the in cab switch, and also periodically if driving for a while. I assume the compressor is running to top off the small aux tank.

Is this the normal way to install these compressors?

I was under the impression they were typically installed to be 100% controlled by the in-cab switch. The vehicle does NOT have lockers, so needing to always have a bit of air in the aux tank seems unnecessary.

You are correct, the wiring kit included from ARB will only switch the compressor on if the in-cab switch is activated, and if kept activated will top off air in the lines using the pressure sensor.

It would seem then that I've had the compressor switch in the cab in the "ON" position all the time..will play around with it this weekend.

Thanks!
