Im in need of some pictures of a 100 Series with a ARB touring rack with or W/O a RTT.

I have searched all over with no luck. I found a few good pics with one on a 80 Series but would love to see some (any) on a 100 prior to a purchase. Im currently between ARB Tour and BAJA EXP.

Any Help?? I would love a AO rack but the price difference (500+) and the wind noise are a huge diterrent..

TIA:beer:

Can't help you with the ARB rack other than there is on on the Los Angeles Craigslist for $650

I also considered the Baja Rack EXP, but went with their Utility rack instead due to it having a much larger flat area and its also supposed to be stronger too with 3/4" center support bars vs. 1/2" on the EXP.

Man after re-reading this thread I realized I screwed it all up..

When I said AO rack I meant to say front runner. I don't think you can get a AO rack in the US anymore can you??

Also when I mentioned the baja exp rack, their flat utility rack was what I had pictured in my mind..

No-pistons do you have any more pictures you could share? The rack looks great man!! I assume you are really happy with it? Do you have a rtt you use with it?

I wouldn't discount the Front Runner in this horse race. The extra cost is easily justifiable. I have a FR Slimline coming in tomorrow. I'll take some good pics of the install process and then let you know what I think of the wind noise after it has been on a few weeks. I spent months building franken-racks out of Gamiviti/Yakima parts and sifting through RR threads trying to figure out what would work best for me. Ultimately, it came down to...

Needs:

-I needed to fit my 863 springs and 34.6" tires in most city parking garages
-I was slightly aware that gas is expensive
-I wanted a good selection of rack accessories that were modular and plug-n-play
-I did not want to deal with rust
-It had to accommodate a 50" LED light bar

Bonus items:

-Slotted rails which allow you to configure and reconfigure the attachments and accessories to your heart's content.
-Mounting rails that can accommodate Yakima towers allowing me to further tweak the truck depending on the event I am gearing up for.

I would have picked up an AO like Loud's in a heartbeat but they were no where to be found. I love the fact that the AO has the sunroof hatch.

FML...thanks Hoser. Any idea whether it shares the same dimensions as the AO made for the 100 series? I would hate to have pulled the trigger on it not knowing if the sunroof opening lines up and is sized correctly.

Dimensions for AO

(80 Series): 80" X 49"
(100 Series): 87" X 55" ??? (quoted an add on Craigslist)

Dimensions for Front Runner

(80 Series): “F” size Slimline rack (2138mmx1345mm) = 84.173" X 52.95"
(100 Series): “F” size Slimline rack (2138mmx1345mm) = 84.173" X 52.95"

If the AO is anything like the FR then the 80 and 100 racks could very well share the same platform dimensions. Someone better pick that bad boy up! I have a set of 6 platform towers purchased from Gamiviti that I will sell the lucky buyer!

Check with dclee. I believe he had one on his 80 and put it on his 100. I have some extra 100 series mounts but not the AO track.

I'll try to get some pictures as soon as I see it again. (It's not my daily driver so it's not parked where I live)

I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but the constuction of it is very nice. Instalation was super easy and everything fit together perfectly. Plus it looks much cooler than the Yakima Megawarrior mounted to the OEM rack that I was using before  Also, the wind noise is very minimal. You can hear a little noise if you are on the highway and sitting in total silence, but with radio on you can't hear anything.

I have a questions for you guys. Maybe I'm missing something here, but what is the big deal with the AO sunroof door? How often are you guys sticking your heads out the sunroof? haha

Here are the specs on the rack if you're interested:

BR-TYLC100-UT-1-0: Completely flat Bajarack with downward wind deflector for the LC100, 51” x 86” x 3”, flat area 51”x82.5”, 70 lbs

Here is that thread with dclee's AO 80 rack on his 100.

IMO, the 49" width is perfect if somebody wanted to hang tools/shovel on the side of the rack... or if they wanted to offset the rack to one side and permanently hang an awning.

I emailed the seller on Craigslist to get some more pics/info on the AO rack.
The only problem is it looks like "dclee" actually had a 100 rack on his 100, but also used the same rack on his 80. Not a 80 rack on his 100. That's how I read his thread anyway..

Thanks for all the info/help up to this point guys, still looking for some pics of that ARB touring...... :-)

Interesting... I have the half AO rack that I measured at exactly 49" wide and it fits just like dclee's pictures. The rack is slightly wider than AO mounting tracks near the D-pillar and slightly narrower than the tracks towards the B-pillar. :meh:

No worries Hoser, I appreciate the info.
I'm sure the size of the 80 series AO rack would work on the 100. My concern is the mounting options

Anyone with an AO wanna chime in as to whether these "could" work?

The slot that mounts to the rack is centered between each pair of OEM bolts on the roof of the truck. It is designed to have adjustment play between driver-passenger side. If a 100 owner ends up with this rack and it is decided that the Gamiviti towers work with it, I will let 6 towers go for cheap!

That's an option I assume. I talked to the owner of the used 80 AO rack and am awaiting pictures. I need to do a little more research but if it turns out it will work, I'll pry take a drive and go pick it up. We will see..
