I am looking for some longer wheel studs for my spare tire carrier on my ARB rear bumper. Does anyone know of a local place in Phoenix I could get them? All my searches end up being the wheel studs for the vehicle and not the ARB spare. The studs are different back there, they press in from the front vs. the back like the rotor studs do. Any ideas?

I am also looking for bearings, races and seals for the swivel points back there and NAPA is no help at special bearings. They want to know what vehicle it is for.

Tony, long wheel studs seem to be hard to find locally. I ended up going with Summit. Call the 1-800# and you should receive some knowledgeable and helpful service (I did). They shipped very quickly too.

Murf,

I am looking for the studs for my ARB bumper which, if I am not mistaken by what I see, are pressed in from the front and not the rear like the rotors are. This is where I am running into problems finding them. I called Summit and they said nobody makes studs that are pressed in from the front.

Does anybody have a suggestion where I can get these? Am I mistaken that these are really pressed in and not screwed in like Summit suggested they probably are?

I have never seen studs that press in from the front and don't see how that would work for this application? Maybe a pic of what you have and a better description of what your trying to accomplish would help? Spare tire holding studs aren't a very critical/demanding design, even bolts with the correct thread, tack welded from the back side works well.

Always a first

Well everyone started giving me inferiority complex and I started doubting myself. I even called ARB and they told me they mount from behind. We obviously I have an older bumper because mine press in from the front. I was going to extract one tonight but then I will be without a spare tire mount until I get it back in and it will not go back in unless it is the longer one I need. :hillbilly:

Any way, I took some crappy pictures (I need a new camera before our cruise honeymoon) and have them here. If I am missing something please let me know. There is no way to press these in from behind without cutting them out of their welded in position and welding them back.

I am going to post this in the 80 forum as well because I am asking out there too.

Those look like standard wheel studs, pressed in from the rear. I agree, s***ty design if you need to cut/weld to service them, unless the tubes go all of the way through with a hole on the backside?

No hole in the backside. I used to like my bumpers but now I am pissed. Something I figured would be so simple...

Yep, it looks like a standard stud pressed into a washer / drilled stock and then welded to the tube for permanent use...time to cut em off and weld on longer bolts / studs...or just get a spacer as Kevin said - that would bethe most painless; cept for the $.
