I’ve been waiting for a local supplier to receive a set of ARB skid plates for several months now...supposedly they’ve been back ordered since mid 2020.

does anyone know what’s going on with them? Are they discontinued? In the middle of a refresh/update for the design?

the part number is ARB-5415100

I’m hoping to get it through 4wheelparts as there are two brick and mortar stores in central Florida...so I won’t get wrecked on shipping.

Have you ordered direct from ARB?
No I was trying to order from 4wheelparts.

they have stores local to me so I’ll save around $200 in shipping. I’ve checked a few other sites and i haven’t heard back on whether they had them in stock...so I assume not.

There are many skid plate options in that price range, just pic another vendor.

skids that cover all the way back to and including the transfer case within that price range?

The Total Chaos kit can be found for a lower price than ARB:

I still recommend the Bud Built skids. With the full skid package you are at $1100 before shipping, and that includes a fuel tank skid (their lite still is heavier than most competitors).

You also get an access cover to the oil filter, making oil changes easy, especially if you have the @bjowett filter canister and a Fumoto drain valve.

I bought these ARB for 2018 LC200 Model #5415100 a few months ago locally at 4Wheel Parts store, just under $600.00 including tax, it took about 1 week for the m to get here and free shipping, they fit perfect, install was a breeze I i would buy them again if needed

Ironman makes a skid that’s comparable in price. Not sure what makes it 2016+ I’m sure it will fit any 200.

The arb transfer case skid is weight bearing on the transfer case; that's not a feature, and not an improvement over stock.
Good information. Thank you.

What sort of problems should one foresee using the ARB transfer plate ? The ARB weighs a few pounds more
There are other transfer case skid plates that include a crossmember...which transfers energy to the frame rails in the event of an impact...rather than to the transfer case.

Here's an example (happens to be my rig) of an aluminum transfer case skid with a cross-member from Asfir 4x4.

Budbuilt also has a crossmember on their Transfer case skid, in a variety of materials.

Both of these are not weight bearing on the TC itself.

Does anyone have experience with the Total Chaos skid? For example does it have a tcase crossmember? I'm guessing no.

It's hard for me to justify the cost of the BudBuilt aluminum skids for my uses. Not in any way saying overpriced; it is definitely higher coverage and more protection but probably overkill for me. The Total Chaos is a potential intriguing middle ground. I'll probably still go BudBuilt but just curious.

It doesn’t cover the transfer case. I think grinchy did the total chaos for the front, engine, and transmission...costs around $600. I think he used the asfir transfer case skid. Costs around $300.

if I damage the stuff currently under the car, at this point, I plan to replace it with what grinchy did. $900ish for all aluminum and a transfer case crossmember seems reasonable.

i like the budbuilt options too...but I don’t think, for my uses, the extra robustness will be necessary.

I installed it. Simple but effective. Would use it again for sure.
this link should go to the start of the skid install.
