Looking for some input on my roof rack situation.
I've got the full size ARB 49"x87" roof rack on my 62 & it's awesome. Love it. I just got a roof top tent however and for now it sits on / mounts to the side rails just fine, but obviously not ideal long term.
So I've got two realistic options in front me. First option is to keep the rack and modify it to make the RTT lay flat on the rack while maintaining side rails up front. See @concretejungle 's thread for an example: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/arb-roof-rack-chop-for-rtt.617072/

Modifying seemed to work well for both these guys, despite fellow users concerns. Second option: try finding someone with the ARB Touring Rack (model# 3800200) who wants to trade for the full size style with rails that I've got. I'm thinking this is a bit of a stretch, but it doesn't cost me anything to put it out there and try. For the time being, the setup I'm working with will serve me just fine. Not in a rush. Since my RTT only takes up little over half the rack, I'd like to have side rails up front for storage like the ARB Touring model offers (or @concretejungle 's mod). However, @theron 's flat rack mod looks pretty clean and who knows, maybe I'll get a hard shell one day that requires a flat rack.
Curious what you guys think given the examples listed. Would love to hear from @concretejungle or @theron on your experience and if you'd do anything different looking back.
