Was getting ready to order an ARB Rear Bumper with Tire Carrier (not getting a jerry can carrier at this time) and wanted to see if anyone had suggestions regarding going with a Right Hand mount vs a Left Hand Mount. Have searched the forum but was also trying to get a read on continue use of back up camera and sensors with the tire carrier mounted.

Regards,

The only thing I can think of is which way it would open in your garage, might be in the way if you want to load things and it opens up to where you are loading stuff. Be sure to post some pics of what ever you decide.

Either side will block the rear camera...so your choice! The view out the rear window will be obstructed as well, but in different ways depending on your decision.

think about when you turn and look over your shoulder to see out the back window when backing up.

if you block the right, you will have to twist even more to see out the left.

arb rear bumper

I have the arb rear bumper tire carrier on the right and jerry can on the left and have no concerns over site blockage. My reasons were safety and convenience related. Jerry Can by the gas tank. Tire on the shoulder side of the road in case of a highway flat.

The bumper is amazing. A drunk girl hit it parked outside my house and totaled her mustang going 35. no damange to the bumper beyond 2 small scratches.

I have the tire carrier on the driver side and the jerry can on the passenger side.

With the tire carrier on the driver side I have decent field of view when looking over my right shoulder, as long as the ARB fridge is not in the back. I did have to move the back-up camera in order to use it again.

With the jerry can on the passenger side I can fill the gas tank from the jerry can (in the carrier) with a super siphon.

Decided on mounting the Tire Carrier on the driver side after sitting in the LC and staring in the rearview mirror and twisting around to look out the back for 1/2 an hour. Have ordered the carrier and the bumper from Slee and its on the way. Thanks for all of the input! Hope to start install in the next couple of weeks.....
