ok, so the insurance has approved replacement with an ARB instead of an OEM bumper on the 91 that was in the front end collision.

To replace the bumper with OEM, Toyota quoted separately for a bumper, extension bars, bumper stays and moldings. The total cost of these is more than a winch ready ARB bumper. The only problem is, do I need the bars or stays for the ARB? Neither the dealer nor the ARB vendor here can figure it out (I don't think they have ever sold an ARB bumper for an 80 before). In looking at the ARB on my 93 it seems to just bolt onto the frame. Can anyone comment?

Don't need that junk, just bolt to frame ends.

Semlin, congrats on the ARB - that's the hard way of getting one.

You don't need that stuff. The ARB slides right on to the frame rails. Ocassionally you'll need to adjust either the frame rails or the ARB if they don't line up exactly.

Guess you are only a :princess: when not in the truck now :D

thanks Jim

I already have an ARB on my truck junk, but this will mean I have 2 cruisers with ARBs for a while since my brother has asked me to sell his 91 for him. I guess that makes me twice as tough as you :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

On the other hand, he was not too happy about the accident but maybe the new ARB will convince him to get a job and keep the 91.

If yer gonna unload the 92 put the new ARB on yours and the old one on the 92. ;)

Simon,
it is super easy to install. as long as the frame rails are still straight. if they are tweaked a bit it can be hell. but no you dont need any of those litle parts.
Dave
ps i know of a frame rack that can cure tweaking on a saturday.
Dave

Just sell one of those ARB;s to ME! :D :D

never crossed my mind :D what with all the rust on the lower extremities of mine and all, but it has to get out of the body shop first and I would have to square the swap up with my bro.
