APPS / TPS issues without a CEL?

Anyone diagnose the common APPS / TPS issues when there wasn't a CEL or a stored fault code to point you in that direction?

Is it possible for it to occur, somewhat regularly, but not in a full shutdown mode, without throwing or storing a code?

When the APPS acted up on mine, it stored a code.

Finally threw the codes. Looks like both TPS and APPS. (just updating the thread for others who may search in the future)
