Has anyone tried this Australian add on kit (specifically, for the 2016-2017 Land Cruiser 200) to integrate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the factory head unit? It is $1100 AUD which is about $773 USD. Seems to be fairly straightforward, and operation doesn't seem too complicated either. The company has fairly positive feedback on Facebook, and they do have a physical shop - so there's a chance this could be a good choice.

There also might be some other variants on the market, perhaps from China/Japan/Russia etc, hopefully something a little bit more affordable. Also interested in how responsive the system is, and if there's any lag or glitchiness to expect.

There is another option that has been around. Grom V-Line. Seems like it was a bit cheaper. There is a thread here on it. Seems to be ok but slow to respond and you need to use wifi tethering to get full function.

There is also a Korean one out there .. saw some Tundra's with it. .. or a 2020 Toyota whole head unit .. not sure if the apple play is just some module added to it or not?

Ah, seems like V-Line is a third party service - however, it does have Google Maps which is the main functionality I was hoping for with CarPlay. Being slow to respond is a major turn off though. Will look into that more.

Hmmm yeah, would like to stay away from doing a whole head unit swap. I've seen the crazy "Super Audio Edition" Tesla-style head unit, but again that's a bit much. Please let me know if the Korean one is a plug and play option that you could point me towards.

I wonder what's the best plug and play, no lag option for running apps like Google Maps and Spotify smoothly.

Think the parts were Beat-Sonic IF-02EP and Beat-Sonic IF-02AEP has an "a" for apple there. I saw them looking around BUT i haven't installed one yet...

This one does look promising. I actually sent them an email for my '19 LC and will see what they come back with.

I would be curious as well, CarPlay isn't a huge need, but having some of the features would be helpful. I bought the LC for what it can do over its long lifespan, but to keep ride like this for that long it should have at least current head unit offerings.

I had looked at the BeatSonic option but it just mirrors the iPhone display which means you need to touch the phone screen to do anything and in NY that is a 5 Point Ticket.

I did find an Alpine unit but again its Australia only its the X902D and is $3599 AUD not sure if its US spec or how to get one.

I just noticed on the page for the one in the OP thread https://www.naviplus.com.au/online-...ay-&-Android-Auto-Integration-pack-p133418508 that the 16/17 unit is different display than 2018/2019 onward, but they would have a unit available. This is appealing.

How do I know if I have a "resistive" touch screen or a just a normal touch screen? Test it with gloves? or is there a build sheet for my vin somewhere?

I reached out to them about my ‘19 LC and the guy who emailed me asked me to use a plastic tip to see if I can operate the screen. My ‘19 has the capacitive screen because it would not work with a plastic tip (used the tip of my sunglasses). They are supposedly working on one for the 18 & 19’s.

I am very curious about this one. I wrote to them I hope I can get it on my ‘16

I was able to successfully install Beatsonic on my 2017 LX570. Works good after all the bugs got worked out. Beat Sonic was very responsive on all of the issues encountered.

You mean their brand new CarPlay one or mirroring?

Great I’ll give that a shot, BeatSonic is great I use their Mac cancel unit... they are also local so much better than some Australian company

That is great news!!!

What were some of the bugs? Do you loose any functionality of the head unit or controls on the steering wheel? How about the mic, do you have to install another mic?

I just got one for my 2016, so hopefully I can install it next week or 2.

The instructions are there for the wire connections but weak instructions as to where to put the unit in the vehicle.

Wait, is this working on a Landcruiser? I have a 2020 and was told they didn’t have it ready yet.

Anyone aware of carplay options for 2015 LX570?

Initially after install while in Apple Car Mode and Birdseye view is activated it would cause the Lexus system to freeze and will require a reboot. A firmware update fixed the issue. After the initial firmware update lost aux functionality and sound in ACM. All were fix after 2nd firmware update. No functionality lost with Lexus system and no additional mic needed. The only quirks is you have to use the joy stick up/down button to go up/down tracks. You can’t use up/down steering control while in ACM mode to do ACM functions. Which is fully disclosed on their web site.
