Hi,

I need close up pictures of a showvel and an axe mounted on the AO roof rack, using their original mounts.

As I just bought those but am confused as how to install and how to fix the shovel and axe to them.

Thanks.

Not a close-up. The "L" bracket for the handle is facing forward. Took me awhile to find a shovel with a wide enough handle to fit over L bracket. Then had to grind away part of shovel blade to clear side of truck. Put shovel handle behind L bracket with blade end somewhat away from truck then pivot towards rear clamping bracket and lock it on. Found only a small section of handle shaft would fit clamping bracket so position bracket to fit.

Thanks Skiddo, looks like a good dead place for mounting the spade.. You're right, I think they could have designed the mount to be more universal.

Anyone with a picture for an axe mounted?

let me know if you need more detailed pictures. I dont have the Ax mount mounted right now as it'll hit my garage door when I pull in, I just throw it on when I know I'm going somewhere it may be needed.

I mounted the handle L bracket for the shovel different then skidoo. The increasing diameter of the shovel will keep it from sliding back in the clamp mount. I moved the clamp part to the point where its just thin enough to fit.

I'm planning on moving the shovel mount to the front of the left side, and put the high lift where the shovel is currently, and put an awning on the right side. Ax will get mounted on the back of the rack.

Thanks 1Loudx, does the mount holding the axe handle assume it is bored (I have a screw with a wing nut)?

When I looked at it, :hhmm: thought that L bracket needed to go through the handle to keep handle from bouncing up and down. But looking at Loud's seems that is how it is designed to be used and maybe I was over thinking it. :o

I went by the picture in the box, maybe I didn't think enough

I like the colormatched subwoofer box. I have two JL's in the back and having trouble finding a sub box that is color matched. Did you just wrap your box yourself? Do you happen to have a link on how you did your brake lights?

they make carpeting in other colors then black and grey, just recover it.

Brake lights? Mask, pre-paint prep and wait for it, PAINT. I know, it'll be hard but you can do it you're proving yourself every day :flipoff2:. Maybe take your headlight covers off while you're at it so you can see what's going on. :D

hahah thanks Loud! With all the rattle can paint that I've used, I think I'm getting better at spray painting:doh:

Sorry for the hijack... 1LoudLX, what antenna mount and antenna is that? thnx!

custom courtesy of Joe@SleeOffroad and the antenna is a Comet SSB-1. Checkout the thread on the Ham radio installs in the 100 section, theres some detail pix in there.

the yakima mighty mounts, what slee uses for the high lift bracket, are very versatile and you could probably make mounts for anything using those.

Try Equip for Front Runner mounts and, as stated above, Yakima has all sorts of mounts you could adapt.

Wish OA was still imported to US I just love their racks with the sunroof hatch.
