Hey guys,

I live in Poway, have been making great progress on my 74 JF40, completed a 5.3 conversion and H55, power steering and disk brakes. It runs GREAT.

The suspension, not so much, i picked up a second hand set of (i believe) con-ferr springs and shackles to get it up enough to clear 33's but honestly it rides like crap.

I am thinking about pulling the trigger on a complete OME system but wanted to see if there was anyone nearby with the setup that i could see and potentially take a ride around the block in.

I'll fire up the beast and bring her over, we can talk suspension.

let me know what you think.

here are a few pics and my build thread.

I would love to help, but my OME kit with shackle reversal is installed on my 60 (your 62 in the background looks nice by the way). My shackles on the front axle are straight up and down lie 6 o' clock, so it rides terrible in my opinion. I have mediums front and rear, and I have read that the shackle angle is why it rides so rough. I noticed the shackle angle on your front axle, might be why yours rides rough as well. If you think looking or taking a ride in mine will be beneficial, let me know.

i have OME on my 60, it rides very well, i did not do the shackle reversal on it. i am just wondering what the short wheel base rides like with the OME springs and shocks.

thanks for the response!

My 71 FJ40 has a shackle reversal, and OME spring and shocks. I have no problem driving up there and letting you test drive my rig.

I am curious to see how your 60 rides... :D

just make sure to stick to 2.5 if you are going SUA, and don't change the front length of the stock shackles or you will need to correct your castor. 4 inch SUA is going to be stiff because of the arch needed when going SUA.

Had to install 6 degree castor shims to correct my driveline angle plus my driveshaft has been lengthened.
