yo...i had the dealer do the TSB last year and they put in extra relay to prevent feedback into the dash

DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN TOWING A TRAILER
Service Bulletin : 00503 - APR 25, 2003 NHTSA Item #: 10001589

i am going to tow a pop up and will be using a brake controller for the first time...i just installed a factory toyota cable that is plug and play with my prodigy...all seems good to go

also will install a fresh 7 pin as well

anyone have any problems AFTER performing the TSB???
anyone successfully using???

the dude abides

I have been towing a 19' Airstream with my 2004 Landcruiser using a brake controller that was hookied into the factory plug under the dash (as discribed on this website) and the running lights and a in dash fan run after I turn the vehicle off. If I do not unhook the trailer the the vehicle battery is discharged. I obtained the service bulletin (EL005-03) and it relates to 2003 models and says it solves the problem where the trailer aux battery is run down. Is this solution likely to help my problem?

i have the similar setup, prodigy controller with tundra harness directly plugged into outlet under dash all clean plug and play...it did work great last summer but did have the problems you describe...

as far as i understand the tsb solution does NOT solve problem...i had a dealer do the TSB cure and it didnt solve anything...i didnt have time befor our trip to take truck/trailer into dealer to show him problem...but before we left on our trip i talked to a big local trailer shop and the guy there said he could put in a relay to cure prob just not before i left...he also said in his opinion that as long as u shut off truck u fine and also belieived that trailer battery would not feed back into truck while truck running and shorting anything...

all i did on our trip was unplug when i needed to shut off truck (like when refuelin) and we had no problems on our month long trip

i do want to solve this issue at some point in future

i think e9999 has some addl experiences
