I am going to be in Austin this weekend (4/24-4/27/14), and was wondering if there was anyone in town with a diesel conversion FJ60/62 that they would be willing to let me drive? I can't seem to find anyone in Dallas willing to entertain this request...
I'm trying to plan an eventual diesel conversion for my 62, but it seems silly to put too much thought and effort (not to mention the eventual money) without actually knowing what I'd be getting. Basically, I just want to know what the acceleration and highway-cruising speeds feel like, and also hear a little bit about realistic mpg figures. Would be particularly interested in checking out a 4BT-powered wagon, as that seems to be the most popular suggested conversion, but if anyone has a 4BD1T, toyota diesel, or even a 6BT, I would still love the opportunity to check it out.
