My 2016 emblem has gotten pretty hazy. Headlights are fine. Anyone used a restoration kit on the emblem? I assume it should work ok. Haven't looked up the emblem part number, but I would assume it's pretty pricey.

I looked up the part number just for the heck of it: 53141-71010. List price is just north of $400. Online dealers seam to be just under $300.

For that amount of cash, I'd certainly try some sort of plastic polish. Maybe Meguiar's or Mothers. Back when I rode, I used a product line from Novus for motorcycle windscreens. Novus will cost a bit more, but gave very good clarity. Important when one is looking through it, although maybe not so much for the emblem.

Assuming the polish does it's thing, then you need to protect it. Might try a scrap of the clear vinyl they put on bumpers/hood/fender, etc. Alternately, I used a DIY approach to a ceramic finish over just about the whole truck - including over the emblem - with no adverse effects.

Flitz Plastic Polish would likely get the job done.

Pre-owned on eBay for $75

You can get them fake for $20 from China. I have one coming with the new Heritage grille.

The radar cruise and other safety features live behind this emblem. I would not go aftermarket or knockoff on this piece.

@brasskey I used the Meguiar's 2 step kit on my headlights that had a tiny bit of oxidation on the top, and I hit the emblem at the same time because it had a bit of hazing. The next time I drove the truck, my precollision safety features got put to the test and I was very happy they were there and functioning. Post regarding that incident is here: Are the active safety features any good in the 200? Found out today

I have a couple in the garage, one that is in a removed grille and another that I broke the mounting pins when I took it off. There isn't much to them... The emblem isn't attached to and as far as I can see, doesn't play an active part in the millimeter wave detection system (they just sit in front of it). If you add anything (like too much metal) that interferes with the sensor behind it, you will get a PCS and related errors on the dash. I don't think a knockoff would be an issue, as long as it doesn't trip the errors and dash lights. I've had a plastic grille with a Toyota emblem from a 70 series for a while, and TSS, PCS, and AEB work the same as they did when the stock grille was on there.
