Anyone up to hit the Sand Dunes on Saturday?

I know, I know. We were just out there. But I have a new dune buggy, and I want to check out what I can do with it. Looks like we'll have a couple others going as well. Anyone?

Oh, and here's my new dune basher...
2005 Lexus GX 470. 4.7 V8 VVTI. Fuuuuuuuuun!

I'll let you know Friday afternoon. My biggest concern is with my foot/leg not being even 50% that if something happens I won't physically be able to help with recovery operations.

I'll be coming with a friend who will be more than happy to provide all physical labor. I think Make It said he wanted to tag along. I think as long as you'll be comfortable sitting on your bum all day, you should be ok!

Not sure yet but I'm gonna try. Also, I love your new rig! Did you keep your 80 series?

Hope you make it out! Definitely keeping the 80, it's my trail rig and my zombie apocalypse mobile!!

I have been working weekends my self all summer and yes it really puts a damper on the trail rides. A bit of planning on my part can make some work sometimes but not this weekend. I wanna go play in the sand!

Wish I didn't work weekends! These spontaneous trips don't give me time to request time off. :(
Don't forget, the emails and mud post happens about a week before the trips for the sake of coordination. The calendar at 406cruisers.com has the schedule several months in advance. Always check the calendar!

The sand is pretty awesome. Perfect for the 200 and it's power!

We will miss you guys out there!

I want to play in the sandbox too! What is the distance and any chance of being back in town by 6PM?

It's roughly a 3 hour drive to the dunes. We'll plan on leaving at 6am from Target on 19th, and arrive between 9 and 10 in St Anthony. I'd like to be back in town by 6 pm also, so we'll leave around 2 or 3. It will be a long day, but an absolute blast! Who else is in?

TC, can't make it. Have to be back earlier than I had thought.

Well folks.....I have some feedback on how the GX470 did in the dunes. After doing 50 mph on a 35* sloped bowl, my buddy and I had a smile ear to ear. The GX absolutely killed it in the dunes. I do need a couple of inches of lift, which will happen this winter, but it's basically good to go! I highly encourage all of the 100 series guys to get out there. Will you still have fun in a 60 or an 80? Absolutely!! Will you have more fun with a V8? Absolutely!! Conditions were great, weather was perfect, and I had sweaty palms for much of the day from the adrenaline rush. The picture does not show the steepness involved. Too much fun!

Way to go TC! Glad to hear it was a great time.

Thanks Earl! We definitely got a lot of WTF looks as we started rallying around in the luxury SUV. Guys on dirt bikes that were taking big air stopped to check out our lines. This will be a great place to play in the spring when all of our trails out here are still buried under 5' of snow!

Wish I coulda joined you TC. Looks like a great playground. "WTF looks" - priceless.

Nice dune buggy. That Prado is going to look great with a lift. I know an old mining road that we can test the low range on. I just need to get the weekend off. I hate to miss the trail rides, so take a lot of pics.
