Anyone had any experience with Toyo Proxes S/T tires? Before the "why would you want those street tires" threads start, I use this truck EXCLUSIVELY for my commercial real estate business, and since a job site / rural land sale is about the only off-roading I do with it, I need something comfortable/quiet for clients (I have other vehicles for any other off-road excursions.)

My question is: do any of you have any experience with Toyo tires (specifically, I want tires that are quiet and stay round - Michelins will generally stay that way until you can see the air in them, while Goodyears, in my experience, are generally square by about 25K)

Any thoughts on Toyos?

Thanks.

damn real estate agents with too many cars :D

I use my 100 for the same(RE) and have 285 BFG's.......hey some of those speed bumps are hard to get over ;)

I have run/run Toyos on both my current M3 and my last Porsche 993. Excellent, but soft, tires.

I have 3 sets of Toyos but none of them are similiar to the S/T.

You can read a few comments about the S/T's here:

Thanks for the link.

WOW! I was somewhat surprised at what I found: Though many people liked, and had great results with, this tire, too many people reported a separation problem along the sidewall.....while I can tolerate certain characteristics of some tires, an inherent design defect that may may produce a failure is not one of them......

With that said, the second tire I'm considering is a Hankook Ventus. It actually scored higher on the 1010tires.com site, but there were many fewer reviews offered........The only person I know with them has them on a 2002 LR Disco. He really likes them and they've stayed round/has gotten excellent mileage from them so far, but with that truck being solid axles front/rear, I wonder how they'd differ on a 100....any of you have any comments/have experience with these tires?

Ive had the Toyos for about 4 months, and they have a total of about 6000 miles on them. I can say that they ride very quietly, grip very well, and have stayed round so far... I wouldn't hesitate purchasing them again. I don't have enough milage to tell you more -- 285/60 r18

I had the Proxes S/T's on a 4WD '01 Tahoe a couple of years back 285/60-18 I believe. They rode reasonably well, and I didn't have any problems with them. Sold the truck before they ever expired, but I'm guessing I would have only gotten about 25-30K out of them at most...

Oh, I put about 18K on them.

Checkout the Toyo M-55's. I knew a couple of oldtimers on the Turbo diesel registry that said they were the best tires they had ever used off road and were good on road. One guy worked in a rock quary and said they out lasted BFG AT/KO's, he had 80K miles on his and plenty of tread left. Most Toyo dealers won't have them in stock but they are suppose to be the best, just not that well known.

MSCOTT, looks like you have EXACTLY the same setup I may end up having on my LX ('99 White with 18's (factory wheels?) and possibly Proxes S/T's.....any photos you could send me? If so, my e-mail address is dnpcorp@bellsouth.net

Thanks!

I think my dad has a set.... on his Buick. ;p

I'l try to get you some pics this weekend. If I forget just shout. My wheels are aftermarket. Chrome Antera 301s. Not really bling, but clean...
