So- I'm the high bidder on a 3 phase TIG welder that is for sale on eBay in Blythewood, SC. The problem is the seller stipulates "local pick-up only". Anyone there that would be willing to, after I pay for it, go pick it up and sit on it for a week or two until I can arrange transportation?

A friend of mine owns a transportation company and could probably pick it up and bring it back this way- but his schedule is a little spotty since the economy is not great right now. Mostly he delivers travel trailers, RVs, van conversions, etc. out of Northern Indiana, but it seems like everyday in the newspaper is notice of another lay-off at the manufacturers.

It's really heavy- like 400lbs heavy. The seller says he has a forklift. One possible problem is lifting it onto the semi trailer once my buddy comes to get it. An engine hoist would do it. I'm willing to pay for someones time to go get it, keep it safe and be available to help load it when Mikes driver is in or near Columbia.

Thoughts? Thanks,

Luke

I live north of Greenville but have family near Columbia. I could pick it up probably sometime in the next couple months but have no concrete idea when. I can check my weekend calendar and get back to you. I would probably pull a trailer to Columbia and take the cargo back to Traveler's Rest and could store it until whenever...only problem like I said is I don't know when I would be in Columbia but it would probably be in the next month or two. I have to get down to Columbia soon to plant fields for the fall/winter deer season. :grinpimp:

Thanks for the offer- at this point I'm still the high bidder- but we're getting close to what I set for a ceiling. If I get it- I may take you up on that.

I might be able to help you out if need be. I'm about an hour or so away, and don't have any plans to head up that way for a few weeks, but I have a buddy who owns a moving company - I might be able to get him to pick it up and store it for you for a while. I'd probably have to throw a couple of bucks his way to pay for his guys' labor and gas for the truck, though. Shoot me a pm if you want me to look into it, because I don't check this corner of mud very often.

I'll help you any way I can, but my resources are limited. Do you think that thing would fit in the back of a 60? I don't have a access to a trailer. I do have a hoist, but I've got no place to store it for you. I don't even have a carport. So, I'm willing to help by lending my wagon(if someone nearby has a trailer?) and my engine hoist to the problem. Let me know if I can team up with somebody and help you solve your transport issues.

Thanks for your willingness to help. At this point, the bidding is approaching my upper limit and it looks like someone else wants it WAY more than I do. Likely I won't be the high bidder but its great to know there are Cruiserheads willing to be helpful.

As it turns out- another bidder wanted the welder worse than I did- but I do appreciate the offers of assistance.:beer:
