Anyone make their own dog food?

Since my dog got sand colic last week, he's been runny from the antibiotics.

The vet suggested the boiled hamburger and rice to tighten things up.

Well, he went bananas for this. Ate every last drop.

He's always been tempremental for his hard food. Wellness whitefish and sweet potato. Kinda eats it whenever he damn wells pleases.

So this got me thinking maybe he'll like fresh stuff better.

No, I feed my dog table food because he likes it and when he's happy I don't have to beat him.

If I had a dog again, I'd give him a balanced diet of people food. Eric took the "raw food" approach. I'm sure you could do it without much effort, and your dog probably would be much healthier.

instead of a treehugger, i call my wife an animal hugger.

she feeds our dog better than i eat. combo of raw diet and kibble (not mixed). gets high grade kibble (wellness) for lunch and raw for dinner. sux for me because i have to chop up the raw every weekend. usually consists of turkey necks, pork necks, beef necks (for recreation) and chicken gizzards.

my dog had a really bad wound last year from a dog bite and was on antibiotics for a very long time. we kept her regular by feeding her yogurt...she loves it.

yeah, i have to take up hunting because my wife wants to feed the dog a deer....as is. i guess she saw some video of people feeding an entire deer, i assume at least gutted, to their dogs. she though it was cute? who the fawk am i married to?????

My mom had always cooked for our dogs, so i took up the tradition when it was time to have my own dogs. My pitbulls are lucky enough to have a menu of boiled ground beef, chicken, or venison. I mix it in with purina one rice and lamb.


Good food and plenty of exercise makes for a happy dog.
