Maintenance is one of the more important parts I would say. If this one doesn't have it then that price is very steep. You don't see many of the colectors editions and I'm not sure what was different about them compared to the 40th edition. It never came with a security system or different seats.

Some of the wood grain is boogered up and the carpet next to the door comming off. Hard to tell about the seats but they must have been redone in the front to look like that after 170K. I would make sure they are not vinly becuase that seems to be the thing to do for dealers. Doubt the vavle cover is the issue with that much oil though it could be. Factor the price of a rebuild into your purchase price for the front birfs.

Might also consider tire condition, brakes (cheap) and sadly hard to tell over that period of time but oil consumption. If there is no service history and you want to freshen it up you can easily get up to 1K plus in parts if you do it yourself.

Ours was on the lot for almost 9K and we talked them down to 6K. I would say offer him 6K and go from there and if you think it is worth it, it MIGHT be worth 8K, but probably not. You can find a nice rear locked 100 series almost for that price. Just to many variables I can't tell from this point.

I took a look at it my opinion is to not walk but run away from it. The whole underside was pressure washed and sprayed black (you don't know what they are hiding). It looked like it was wrecked and repainted to me. They told me that they would take 11.5k for it the thing is no where near worth that price. I would say that 7500-8000 would be on the high side for that rig. I also don't trust them as a dealer when I was looking for one last year we looked at an LX they had. The thing was a total piece and the lowest they would go on was 8500.

only thing that makes it a collectors is that it was the last group of 80's to come to the US. They were on the assembly line the same time the hunerds were. It did get some cool things like two-tone wheels but other than that...

Hells no... I don't care if they rubbed gold booty on it... at this point I ain't paying over $6000 for a stock 80 even in perfect condition... because they all need seals regardless of mileage... rubber breaks down due to age...

Holy crap... just looked at the pics... is that a dent?
Also, it may be just the light, but one side looks like it has darker fender gaskets than the other side does.

i agree that it looked like it had been wrecked. there were rust spots where the front bumper had contacted the sheet metal on both sides of the front. i was surprised how high they were on price and the guy didn't give any indication he was willing to do much negotiating.

If someone decides to go and look and is willing to pay my consulting fee (gas up there) then i'll go and pick this truck apart with you. better yet... I'll go by myself and then you can go the next day and he might be down on price...
