Looks like someone wrenched the hose clamps on either side of this fitting til they shredded. Planning on replacing the hose but wondering what this weird looking connector is. Should I delete it or does it serve a purpose? Thank you!

I would remove it, My best guess is a aftermarket temp probe.
Someone needed a vacuum source and then removed it
