Either this week or next. We are planning to go up and camp at the campground and then take the cruiser on the trail some to play.

Is there a connection with the trail to Wentworth before the road at Ellis ?

We'll be there , fishin, boating, floating, cooking and doing some wheelin with the 40 unloaded on the con, ehat a concept.

Well I went and found out that the Jeeper Jamboree went too. They closed the trail as usual but had it open to plublic on Saturday. So, I hit the trail on Sat. and after midnight a few times. Closure is from 6am to 12pm.

We towed up with RV to Loon campground on Thurs. and it was full with hardly any jeepers , mostly just campers. We lucked out and got the campsit down by boat ramp which worked out great for kids to swim, is plenty big, and no neighbors.

Crowed on Loon , even saw a few( more than that) ski, yes ski, boats. Lots of pontoon boats and reg. fishin boats. More people than I seen there in 10 years.

Details Tony says, ( I know you meant before hand but...)

Crowded, covered that.
Jamboree, not really an issue other than trail completely closed past spider/sluice..

Here's the best part, So Sat. am I load the kids and head for the bowl. We see a few other Toyotas using the trail and some motos but hardly anyone in sight. I have details on the best part but they are better communicated in PM as to not clutter the boards, PM me for the story.

Then upon going back into trail found a fj40 rolled on slabs, he was on his way to recovery and had things handled, everyone o.k. but the 40 took shots to windshield frame, both fenders, hood, roll bar, and front bib crushed, prolly rad. too.

40 climbed a bunch of ledges it would not climb all laoded for Rubithon, fun to just try same things 5 or 6 times with nobody around. Pedal on the right.

Good news , gate keeper area is shaping into a wicked little sluice type thing. Thanks to all with larger tires IMO it has created something which in another year will be much harder and for more distance than the obstical they blew up. Fun area IMO.

Anyone ever take the road that goes back into forest past the Chalet ? great shooting spots back in there, roads go a long way, no wheelin but nobody around either, not even tire tracks, almost trail breaking type stuff. fun, fun, fun.....let the shotgun blow.

Met an old Rubithon cook on the trail. John Faber, he has an awesome linked out cruiser and a nice little trailer. Was a nice guy and apparently has a cabin up by spider lake. Said he cooked back when Warden was doing Rubithon.

Great trip.

If you do plan on going in to Fordyce, check the water flow. Just got back yesterday and it was flowing good. A little water in the cab on the first 2 crossings, but it was good they turned the water off when we when on the next day. Amazing how much the water droped in 1 hour (6+"). I believe they will turn the water back on after Sierra Trek this weekend.

John, I wish you would have called me, a couple of us went up to Barret lake that weekend, met alot of good people and saw some really nice cruisers. The water flow is down on Fordyce because of the Sierra Trek. You can probably run the trail and be safe until Monday. Heres the knorr bros. trip : Fordyce teaser - Pirate4x4.Com Bulletin Board
