I just talked with Ameriprise (Costco Insurance) and they said i could do $10k of mods for about $100 a month.

Anyone else insure their rigs? Brent?

I just have to supply a list of costs and part #'s.

Seems pretty reasonable to me.. since my rig will be sitting out on the driveway most of the time in the future.

Oh yeah another interesting tidbit i found out was my insurance policy for 'full coverage' will increase 5% every year. Reason for this they said, is cause the cruiser is over 10 years old and it's not worth them insuring full coverage.

AAA Insurance told me that my mods were NOT insurable.

If another brand WILL insure my mods, i may switch depending on the costs!

I just told you the cost. $100 for $10k worth of crap. Cant be custom fab either. Has to be bolt ons.. and no they wont insure that kind!!! lol

Ok Wiseass :flipoff2:

I will shop around and compare prices

Mercury, according to the guy at the body shop that fixed my hatch, will insure mods - NOT cheaply tho. $1200 seems pretty expensive Dave.

Interestingly enough, this same guy told me AAA did cover his aftermarket parts (front bumper and bigger wheels and tires than stock) at no add'l cost.

That doesn't make sense. Seems like it would be better for them due to the "depreciation" as it gets older. Less to pay up. Of course they don't know what we do to our rigs here of course. ;)

12% premium per year...? whoah!

I'll take the risk. If insurance will reimburse me to put OEM back on, I'll take the check and repurchase the ARB, etc.

I would have to agree with Brent Dave. I don't have as much easy to steal stuff as you though.

What are you talking about getting ripped off Dave?

Front or rear bumper, roof rack, roof top tent, gas cans??? I could see the cans being ripped off easily, but not the other items. That would take as least some tools, time and effort. I'd think it would be enough to deter a quick grab thief, besides, there isn't a large market to sell that stuff hot.

If you've got an aftermarket stereo, gps or other items, then you might want to consider that stuff, but it shouldn't cost you $1200 a year.

Good point. I guess im worrying about people ripping off my bolt on off road junk that people cant even sell. I guess i should be more worried about my $35.00 craigslist Panasonic head unit lol You're right though.. i dont know... i just looked at it like this... if someone stole the whole thing, i'd be out a lot more than blue book.

Im a bit paranoid though.. i had a CCTV on my m-715 at all times. .. but i also caught someone in it... http://media.putfile.com/Jeep-Surveillance

I would say that is better to be safe than sorry, I and think that insuring mods would be great on a Jeep. On the cruiser I just weld one or two nuts on each bolt on idem so that they would need to be cut to be removed. You will never stop a thief but you can slow them down.

well, excessive premium and possible existing coverage notwithstanding, there is more than theft that may be an issue, namely totaling the truck in an accident...

I got to agree with brentbba... It's not like you will wake up one morning ad find your lockers are gone.

Im not worried about my lockers lol

Im worried about on board air, fridge, stereo, winch, wheels/tires, tools etc.

Like i said, they'll probably just steal the entire rig.
