I'd like to be able to make it to the barn next weekend, but without a little massaging, I don't know if the old girl will make it. If anyone has any time this week to listen to her and point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. The boss:princess: is going out of town this weekend, so I'll have time to tear into the truck without interruption. I have a pretty flexible schedule.

Thanks in advance,
Terry

Terry, I've got work on Saturday until 2:00pm, but other than that, I'm free to help. I'll put some more research into troubleshooting the 3FE this week in prep.

Anyone else in the triangle up to speed on 3FE know-how?

I've got a miss and it is just running poorly overall. I have to 'double foot' it whenever I come to a stop to keep it from stalling and every time I pull into my driveway, it stalls on me. I can follow directions, but don't have the experience to decipher why it's doing what it's doing.

Thanks Johnny, I appreciate it. If you think it'd help with the diagnosis, I can bring it by after work to let you listen to it. It may be something easy, but again, it's above my pay grade.

From that it sounds like a vacuum leak or EGR acting up.

What's the maintenance history of the truck??
plugs, wires, etc...

I bought the truck in June 10. Very clean, well maintained truck with 174k miles. PO replaced wires, plugs, distributor and all vacuum hoses just before I purchased it. I blew the head gasket in May 11 (long story) and replaced it and had T. Hoff replace exhaust valves, etc. Miss started about two months after rebuild. I changed fuel filter last month and bought new plugs, as well. I pulled the EFI off last month and found my #2 fuel injector wire slightly burnt. Took some pictures and went over to Phil's Toy Store and their opinion was that it wasn't bad enough to replace, but rather tape it up and go on. If I pull my #2 wire from the plug, no noticeable difference in engine performance. I am getting spark if I pull that plug, so it may be a fuel injector issue, but not sure how to test it.

As I told those that attended last week's meeting, I can build you a house, but since I'm a novice wrench turner, I just don't have the ear for engines, yet. I'm hoping that someone will be able to hear it/ look at it and tell me "That's the x" and I'll live happily ever after...
